Share your views Step 1 of 4 25% Our Environmental Destination consultation runs from Tuesday 8 December 2020 until Sunday 17 January 2021. To help shape our environmental destination, start by answering the questions below.Shaping our environmental destination We have the opportunity to work together to improve our shared understanding of what is needed to meet environmental requirements over time and in different locations. We are considering the potential pressures that climate change and population growth could have on the water environment. We should also consider other changes, such as land-use change, which could impact the water environment. We need to plan where and how we can protect and enhance the water environment. We need to work collaboratively with stakeholder groups to identify and prioritise what we protect. 1. What do you see as the water resource related environmental priorities for the WRW region and why?2. How should WRW engage with stakeholders who have an interest in the environment of the region?3. Are you already engaged in a stakeholder group, such as the River Severn Partnership or a CaBA group, to implement change now and plan for the future?4. Do you have some spatial summary datasets that would be useful to share to influence the water resources environmental destination?5. Are you aware of any constraints that could impact the environmental destination e.g. historical issues in your geographic area? Please help shape our environmental destination by answering the questions below.Priorities for actionWe need to take a holistic approach to protecting and improving the resilience of our catchments. We anticipate that there are likely to be a range of measures that would benefit rivers, lakes, wetlands and groundwater. Through this work we are seeking opportunities to achieve multiple benefits including increasing natural capital, biodiversity and social benefits. WRW is producing a plan that will include actions relating to achieving the environmental destination for the WRW region and the upstream catchments. The plan will need to identify short, medium and long term actions. These actions may include: changes to future water abstraction and new water resource or demand management schemes environmental measures to improve the water features e.g. river support / restoration activities other catchment measures that would benefit the water environment further investigations being needed, as there is not enough evidence to understand the types and scale of actions to be taken We wish to consider the multiple benefits of the options and seek collaboration /integration with other initiatives /schemes were possible. 6. What views do you have on the range of measures needed to make our water environment more resilient?7. What are your views on the likely timescales needed to implement solutions (now, medium term, long term)?8. What current and future environmental work are you aware of? Please briefly explain how you are supporting them, or plan to do so and signpost us to any existing plans. Please help shape our environmental destination by answering the questions below.Delivering catchment improvementsOnce we have identified and prioritised actions, to protect and make our water resources more sustainable, we will need to deliver these on the ground. Actions may be delivered through integrated solutions. Some action may be undertaken on third party land and involve collaboration of multiple stakeholders. We would want to do this in the most efficient and cost effective way.9. How should WRW work with stakeholders to make the water environment more sustainable?10. How can we resource and fund the measures needed to bring the environmental improvements and resilience to our region?11. Are you aware of any blockers to collaborative working?Thank you for your time and input, please leave your contact details in the form underneath. This will be the first time that we will have developed a regional plan which includes actions to achieve a long term environmental destination for our water resources. This plan will be reviewed and updated as more information and evidence becomes available, so there will be opportunities to further develop the destination and the priorities and actions needed to achieve it. Thank you for your time and input, please leave your contact details below.Privacy Statement By filling-in this online form you are agreeing that BECG can hold and process your personal data in relation to Water Resources West consultations.
